Split picture. On iFixit's technical criteria Lenovo is a leader: ThinkPad T14 Gen7/T16 Gen5 are the first ThinkPads at 10/10, most current ThinkPads score 9/10, and Lenovo publishes detailed Hardware Maintenance Manuals and sells FRU parts with few software locks. But PIRG graded the Lenovo brand F (2025) and C (2026) brand-wide, because the grade averages weaker consumer IdeaPad/Yoga/Legion models and deducts points for anti-right-to-repair trade-group membership. Scoring only the five technical axes here yields a high-C; the PIRG brand grade is lower because it bakes in policy and consumer-line averaging.

Thin evidence for tablets specifically (conservative grade). Lenovo has no official iFixit tablet repairability score; the only iFixit figure is a community-reported ThinkPad X1 Tablet Gen3 = 7/10 (battery and screen without adhesive, modular boards), and Lenovo's celebrated 10/10 scores are laptops, not tablets. Lenovo does publish 'Tablet Product Self-Repair Guidance' and a parts portal for many Tab M/P-series models, and iFixit hosts community guides, but genuine consumer-facing parts and manuals for its Android tablets are inconsistent. Minimal parts-pairing. Graded conservatively due to the lack of an authoritative repairability teardown score.
