Legacy OEM with broad repairability: Motorcraft service information is subscription-available to independents, OEM and aftermarket parts are widely available, and Ford is covered by the July 2023 industry R2R commitment guaranteeing independents the same diagnostic/repair info as dealers (Ford Authority noted Ford service info would be shared under the R2R framework). Drags: Ford's lobby group, the Alliance for Automotive Innovation, fought Massachusetts' telematics Data Access Law for years before that challenge failed, so its software/telematics-access record is mixed; full diagnostic and service-info access is paywalled. Solid traditional parts/manual availability with an ongoing telematics-control tension places it mid-C.
