Vizio

Score breakdown
Why this grade
Vizio is the weakest on owner/independent repair support: it provides no official consumer parts store or published service manuals, restricting service information to authorized repair centers, with documentation otherwise only available through leaks. Parts are nonetheless obtainable through third parties (Parts Town, Sears PartsDirect, ShopJimmy) and iFixit hosts community guides, and TVs have no parts pairing - so board-level DIY is physically feasible. The lack of any official documentation or self-repair channel, on top of uneconomical panels, drops it to an F.
Methodology & version
Five dimensions — parts availability, schematic access, repairability, OEM pricing, and software freedom — are scored 0–100 and weighted equally; the letter grade is the average (A 90–100, B 80–89, C 70–79, D 60–69, F below 60). This assessment is current as of 6/9/2026 and cites its sources below. It covers the TVs category and is not a claim about every device the maker ships.
