A smaller circuit board that connects to a device’s main board.
Why it matters
Replacing a daughterboard can isolate a failed subsystem without replacing the more expensive main board.
Technical detail
A daughterboard carries a subsystem such as charging, audio, or buttons and links to the main logic board through a connector or flex cable.
Examples
- Many phones place the charging port and microphone on a lower daughterboard.
