Plain-language definition

Plain-language definition

Adapting a product’s language and presentation for a particular locale.

Why it matters

A locale-aware glossary must not assume that an English alias or alphabetical order works everywhere.

Technical detail

Localization applies translated content plus locale-specific formatting, plural rules, sorting, terminology, and sometimes layout while preserving stable concepts.

Examples

  • An English glossary entry and a Spanish entry share a concept but have separate reviewed wording.
